7.5 Liter Alembic Distiller With Electric Hotplate

This 7.5 liter (approximately 2 gallons) Alembic Distiller is a very versatile distilling unit for beginners and hobbyists. This compact still is an exact hand hammered replica of the traditional Alembic stills with onion shaped vapor chamber characteristic of the Moorish influence and used in Spain and Portugal for distilling eau-de vie.

This is a beautiful and functional display piece. A fabulous gift item or for beginners to interested in the art of distilling essential oils and hydrosols. 

This Alembic distiller is on a wooden base and is complete with a 500 W electric hot plate so no additional hardware is required. A quick release brass fastener between the swan neck hood and the condensing recipient seals off all precious vapors. The joint between the "onion" and the pot is sealed with a paste or dough made of rye flour.

Please set to the correct voltage for your country. Use the voltage selector on the side (or bottom) of the electric hot plate to set the voltage to 110 V as required in the USA.

A first cleaning distillation is essential to clean impurities and other unwanted substances. These substances, which are inherent to copper, are deposited after the still has not been in use for a relatively long period of time. For a good cleaning first distillation add about 1/2 pound of rye flower an water to the pot. Attach the "onion" to the pot, then seal it with rye flour. Attach the "bird's beak" to the condenser, and distill for about 1/2 hour.
